Salcheto "OBVIUS" Rosso Toscana IGT 2018 BIO
With this wine, along with the "Obvius" Rosata, Salcheto intends to discover new taste areas, in a new cultural context, with the precision of odors, volatile stability and overall reliability of the wine over time are essential elements . This was made possible by a selection of high quality grapes with perfect skin, a rapid and sensitive transport to the basement and into the barrels (only use of gravity). Further use of CO2 digesters developed in the winery itself (100% based on self-developed gas in the fermentation tanks). Finally, the bottled wine aged and in total absence of oxygen, also thanks to the technical corks that are used. The wine is bottled on February 14, 2013 and has a rest period of six months had in the basement before the release (where DFW so if the chicken was at).
Only made from grapes, no added sulfites, yeasts, tannins or whatever, like "Obvius" Rosata. This gives an experience of pure fruit.
Review Antonio Galloni: 90 points
"Another dark, juicy wine. The 2012 Rosso di Montepulciano Obvius jumps forward with amazing depth and volume to a base wine. The fruit is very much on the dark side, but aging in steel retains its freshness. There is no shortage of intensity in the glass. This is a wine that place demands and demands attention.
Grapes: 100% Pugnolo Gentile
Production: 20,000 bottles
Maturation: 4 months in steel
Refinement in the bottle: 6 months
Bottle / Closing: standard Bordeaux bottle 400gr (for 750 ml); pressed cork cork sand
Personal note DFW. The "Obvius" is more than a basic wine. Again, the aim was to bring the maximum fruit out and there is one very well managed. It's a different style, which certainly goes away from the approach that a good wine must be imbued with the vanilla taste of new wood. Personally, we welcome this approach, and the wine is sure to taste. The fact that this wine is completely natural is a welcome bonus.
